Why you should enjoy the sun?

UV has more benefits than you think. Enjoying the sun is good for your morale, your well-being and your skin.

Why you should enjoy the sun?

5 good reasons to go out and enjoy the sun (without shaking)

We need to tell you about a phenomenon that upsets us. It seems that more and more women
(and maybe even you?) refuse to enjoy the sun. For what ? For fear that their skin will
second-hand clothes before their time. The idea can be understood, because UV rays are in fact the first responsible for
premature skin aging… and certain cancers. But there is no point in transforming yourself into
vampire! By hiding in your cave, you deprive yourself of all the benefits of the sun. And believe
for us, there are so many of them that they are well worth a small concession. Like all good things,
The key is not to overuse it. So, a layer of sunscreen, and presto: everyone outside!

Enjoying the sun is (very) good for your morale

It takes little to be happy. In this case, sometimes enjoying a few rays of sunshine is enough to combat the blues and prevent seasonal depression. P.-S. : if Hélios is desired, think about light therapy. When exposed to ultraviolet radiation, our brain secretes endorphins (the pleasure hormones!) Over the long term, sunlight triggers electrical signals which also increase the levels of dopamine and serotonin in the blood. These two neurotransmitters are involved in the regulation of mood, sleep and appetite. They therefore play an essential role in your chronobiological rhythm and your well-being. So why deprive yourself of it? According to one English study of 2023, the simple fact of observing a sunrise or a sunset would generate happiness. The “golden hour”? We don't photograph it, we LIVE it to the fullest!

Ultraviolet promotes the synthesis of vitamin D

“Yes, everyone knows that,” you will tell us. But what you probably don't know is that vitamin D is divided into two major forms: D2 and D3. This last one is the most important. It strengthens your immune system and prevents bone demineralization. Vitamin D3 is also called cholecalciferol. You synthesize it thanks to the sun's rays or your food (products of animal origin). Some people, particularly vegetarians, therefore choose to supplement with vitamin D2 (ergosterol). Theoretically, it's a bit like the equivalent of D3 in a plant-based version. However, science has proven that ergosterol is at least half as effective as cholecalciferol. This is another good reason to go and enjoy the sun! Important info: your ability to synthesize vitamin D decreases with age. It is also slowed down by a high melanin content (dark skin).

The sun also has benefits for your skin

Why enjoy the sun? Because he gives you looking good ! Nothing like a light “sun kissed” effect to highlight your complexion in a natural way. This pigmentation is mainly due to UVB, which stimulates the activity of melanocytes… and therefore the production of melanin. But the benefits of the sun on the skin are not limited to the aesthetics of a tan. We now know that it can help “relieve” certain atopic skin. Indeed, ultraviolet rays play both an immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory role. This particularity can prove beneficial in cases of dermatological diseases, including psoriasis and eczema, for example. But be careful, the best can quickly become the enemy of the good! You will obtain the opposite effect to that sought if you expose yourself for too long and under too strong a UV index.

Gone are the days when pots of cream were limited to a vague mixture of paraffins... Green tech today makes it possible to extract the most active substances from the plants around us to transform them into effective cosmetic active ingredients. A boon to fight against rides and spots, whose appearance is precisely precipitated by UVA. Antioxidants are king when it comes to preventing accelerated skin aging. Their role is to limit oxidative stress induced by free radicals, particularly those emitted by solar radiation. They are therefore essential for maintaining firm and luminous skin. Other less known active ingredients: senolytics, capable of destroying senescent (dying) cells. Oryza Lab uses both categories of agents in its innovative skincare collection. The star ingredient of all formulas, rice, stands out for its exceptional concentration of natural antioxidants, including tocotrienols. It combines with senolytic ingredients, such as the precious alpine rose, to offer optimal anti-aging effectiveness with proven results.

You have a perfect mastery of good exhibition practices

So the sun is not your worst enemy. But that doesn't mean you have to spend the day basking under a layer of milking fat! (Really, never do that.) In the majority of cases, a few minutes of exposure are enough to reap the benefits of the sun. As soon as there is overexposure, there is a health risk (sunburn, skin cancer, eye damage, etc.). So stay reasonable. You already know all the precautions to follow, right?  Wear sunscreen with a UV index adapted to your phototype (SPF30 or SPF50) when you go out (on a café terrace, for example).  Protect yourself with a hat or cap, sunglasses and light, long-sleeved clothing.  Pay attention to the first spring suns and the times when they are highest in the sky (12 p.m. – 16 p.m.).  And of course, hydrate yourself regularly in & out.
