The effects of lack of sleep on the skin

A bad night or nights that are too short have a direct impact on our face when we wake up. In addition to feeling tight lines, particularly around the eyes, the mirror reveals a dull complexion, dark circles and often fine lines, sometimes imperfections.

The effects of lack of sleep on the skin

Lack of sleep accelerates skin aging

Chronic lack of sleep can accelerate the skin's aging process. Indeed, during sleep, our body produces melatonin, a hormone that acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting our skin from damage caused by free radicals. Additionally, lack of sleep can lead to increased oxidative stress, which can damage the skin's collagen and elastin, leading to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Advice: To prevent premature aging of the skin, try to maintain a regular, quality sleep routine. Also use moisturizers and serums containing ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid to help fight signs of aging and protect skin from environmental damage.

Dark circles and bags

Lack of sleep can lead to fluid buildup under the eyes, which results in the appearance of dark circles and bags. Indeed, when we do not get enough sleep, blood circulation around the eyes is impaired, which can give a tired and puffy appearance to our eyes.

Advice: To reduce the appearance of dark circles and bags, try to get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Additionally, use eye creams containing caffeine, vitamin C or hyaluronic acid to help decongest and hydrate the under-eye area.

The iconic exfoliant for new skin

310 reviews

Sleep is essential for skin cell regeneration. When we sleep, our bodies produce new skin cells, which contributes to a fresh, glowing complexion. On the other hand, a lack of sleep can lead to a dull and tired complexion because dead cells are not regularly replaced.

Advice: To find a luminous complexion, make sure to cleanse your face every evening with a HMake-up remover oil to eliminate impurities accumulated during the day. Also use a gentle exfoliant, like our Perfecting Peel, once or twice a week to eliminate dead skin cells and promote cell renewal. Finally, apply  The Reoxygenating Mask  twice a week. A fresh mask that eliminates excess sebum, impurities and toxins and remineralizes the skin, for a luminous and rested complexion.
